About Rebecca Sotero, Anxiety & Burnout Therapist in Florida
Real Talk. Real Change.
No Fluff.
Honest, direct therapy for people who are tired of surface-level solutions and ready to actually do something about it.
I’m Not a “Nod and Smile” Therapist
If you’re looking for someone who just listens quietly and tells you everything will be okay, I’m probably not your person.
I’m real. I’m direct. And I care enough to tell you the truth in a way that actually helps you move forward.
That’s why I named my practice Real Talk Therapy. Because therapy should feel honest. Not scripted. Not surface-level. And definitely not like you’re talking to someone who is just checking boxes.
The people I work with are smart, capable, and have usually tried to figure things out on their own for a long time before they reach out. They don’t want to be coddled. They want to understand what’s actually happening and do something about it. That’s exactly the kind of therapy I practice.
How I Show Up in Therapy
I bring all of me into the room in a professional way.
That means you’ll get:
- Honesty without judgment
- Support without hand-holding
- Practical tools you can actually use outside of session
- A space where you can be yourself, not who you think you’re supposed to be
We’ll talk about the patterns that are keeping you stuck, whether that’s anxiety, burnout, people-pleasing, or feeling like you’re responsible for everything and everyone around you. We look at what’s actually driving it, not just the symptoms on the surface.
I’m not going to sit across from you and nod for an hour. We’re going to get into it. Figure out what’s happening, why it’s happening, and what you actually want to do about it.
And yes, sometimes we’ll laugh. Sometimes we’ll sit in hard moments. Both matter.
Why I Do What I Do
Being a therapist isn’t just a career for me. It’s a calling.
I didn’t end up here by accident. I believe God led me exactly to this work, helping people grow, heal, and step into a stronger version of themselves. That sense of purpose is what I bring into every session.
I’ve worked with a lot of people over the years who came in convinced that this is just how they are. That the anxiety, the burnout, the constant over-functioning, was just their personality. And one of the most meaningful parts of this work is watching someone realize that it isn’t. That the pattern they’ve been living in isn’t permanent. That change is actually possible.
A lot of my clients come in feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure if things can actually be different. And over time, they start to see that they can. That’s why I do this.
What I Believe About Change
I don’t believe in staying stuck in the same patterns forever.
I believe in growth, ownership, and learning how to move forward. You’ll hear me talk about moving from a victim mindset to a victor mindset, not in a cliché way, but in a real, grounded way. We look at what’s happened, we understand it, and then we figure out what you want to do next.
Because therapy isn’t just about understanding your story. It’s about changing how your life feels going forward.
I also don’t believe in indefinite therapy. My goal is to help you build the awareness, skills, and confidence so that eventually you don’t need me. When that happens, we both know the work worked.
More About Rebecca Sotero
My Approach to Therapy
My work is rooted in evidence-based approaches that I’ve seen make a real difference:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Understanding how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors connect and how to change the patterns that aren’t working
- Polyvagal Theory and nervous system regulation: Understanding how your body holds stress and anxiety, and how to actually shift out of survival mode
- Mindfulness and awareness-based work: Building the ability to pause, observe, and respond rather than just react
I also incorporate a lot of psychoeducation, helping you understand how your brain and body are responding so the work makes sense and actually sticks.
If anxiety has been a big part of your experience, you can learn more on Anxiety and Nervous System Regulation Therapy.
If burnout and boundaries are the bigger issue, Burnout and Boundary Therapy may be a better fit.
If you’re a high-achieving professional or college student navigating pressure and performance, Therapy for High Achievers and Therapy for College Students and Young Adults are where we do that work.
My Experience and Credentials
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Florida with over 14 years of experience helping individuals navigate anxiety, depression, burnout, and life transitions.
- MA, MSW, LCSW, Qualified Supervisor (QS)
- Licensed in Florida (SW21063)
- Graduate of Capella University (MSW, 2019)
- Qualified Supervisor for Registered Social Work Interns
Over the years I’ve been called the “Boundaries Queen,” and honestly, I’m okay with that. Because learning how to set and hold boundaries changes everything.
Therapy That Fits Into Your Life
Life is already busy. Therapy shouldn’t make it harder.
All sessions are offered through secure virtual therapy in Florida, so you can attend from home, your office, or wherever you feel most comfortable.
No commute. No rearranging your entire day. Just consistent, focused support that fits into your life.
Common Questions About Therapy
Direct, honest, and practical. I’m not here to just listen while you vent. We look at what’s actually driving the patterns, understand what’s happening in your nervous system, and build real skills you can use outside of session. There’s usually some laughing, sometimes some hard conversations, and always a focus on moving forward.
I work with high-achieving professionals, college students, and young adults who are dealing with anxiety, burnout, people-pleasing, and boundary issues. Most of my clients are still functioning well on the outside but feel overwhelmed, stuck, or exhausted underneath. They’re not looking to vent. They want real change.
Sessions are $150 for individuals and $250 for couples. For those who prefer to use insurance, I am accessible through Headway, which works with a number of major providers including Aetna, Anthem, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Oscar Health, and Oxford. Out-of-network clients can request a superbill for potential reimbursement.
That depends on what you’re working on, but my goal is never indefinite therapy. Most clients start noticing real shifts within the first several sessions. The focus is always on building skills and awareness so you get to a point where you don’t need to keep coming back.
