Meet Rebecca

Hi, I’m Rebecca Sotero, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and owner of Real Talk Therapy. I help women over come anxiety, worry and burnout by learning boundaries, self-care and moving from a victim to victor in their lives and situations. I enjoy working with high achieving helpers such as mothers, other behavioral health professionals and entrepreneurs. My approach to therapy is bringing all of me in a professional way, I’m authentic and straight forward. That’s why I named my practice, “Real Talk Therapy”. I decided to go into private practice because I feel that helping others is my calling. Private practice has allowed me the freedom and flexibility that I desire, unlike the traditional 9-5.

I am originally from Maine, however, I’ve been a Florida lover since 2004. While in Florida, I attended Southeastern University and received my Bachelors degree in Church Ministry, as well as my Master of Arts in Human Services. I began my career as a Foster Care Case Worker in 2011. In 2016, while working in Washington, D.C., I deicide to pursue a Masters in Social Work from Capella University. I am now a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I have worked with a variety of populations and settings ranging from addiction, anxiety, depression to complex mental illness. Then, outpatient, Intensive Outpatient, Partial Hospitalization to Inpatient Hospital settings, Detox Centers and Residential Treatment Centers. I spend my free time with my son and husband where we enjoy the beach and being outside in water as well as having pizza and watching a family movie together. I also enjoy indoor cycling, walking, hiking, traveling, and being with friends and family.  I have lived in many places from Maine to Florida but lovingly get to call Jacksonville, FL home.

Authenticity, Integrity, and Honoring God

Areas of Focus

Anxiety

Anxiety in women is a nuanced experience, often influenced by the unique roles they play in various aspects and stages of life. Women experience anxiety more than men and usually have an emotional response.

Burnout

The relentless juggling act of work, family obligations, being a woman, and motherhood can lead to emotional and physical exhaustion. AKA Burnout. it’s time to set some boundaires.

Nervous System Regulation

Our nervous systems take on a lot. From daily stressors to internal factors. It is so common for our nervous system to need a breather. Just like you, it needs time to reset. So, how do we do that?

Walk n' Talk

One of my favorite things to do for my own mental health is walking. I love living in Florida and the beach offers more than just a place to swim. For me the beach is a place I can stroll without pressure and can disconnect. I do some of my best thinking walking along the beach.

One day, I decided to open this space up to clients. My Walk N’ Talk approach is done face to face at an agreed upon location agreed (beach/park) and we simply walk and talk about things you need to bring up and work on in therapy.

This time is so powerful and such a great way to release things without the tension and stress that can arise in an office setting or virtual setting.
